In Loving Memory Of
Dwaine K. Patterson, Sr.

Obituary

Dwaine Keith Patterson Sr. was born on May 26, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio to Ruby Russell and Charles Hunter, the eldest of seven children. Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Delbert and Donald.

Dwaine graduated from Shaw High School in 1971. In high school, he ran track, played basketball, and was the starting quarterback for the football team. He was known as “Pro Patterson”. Some of his favorite pastimes were jogging, lifting weights, playing basketball, and spending time with his family.

He met and fell in love with Renee (Manuel). They married on August 24, 1974. From this union four children were born: Derrick, Dwaine Jr., Darren, and Dionne. He was affectionately known to his family as “Pops”.

Dwaine worked for several companies including, the East Ohio Gas Company as a meter reader and later as a meter repairman for 12 years. He worked for the Cleveland Housing Network as an inspector for 10 years and was self-employed as a mortgage broker.

In his early 20s, he was introduced to the truth by his uncle Stanley Sammons. In 1973, Dwaine called the Kingdom Hall and asked for a Bible study. Ron Jackson answered the phone and studied with him. He studied once a week and it later progressed to five days a week.

His dedication was symbolized to Jehovah on March 3, 1974, about 5 months after starting his study. He became a pioneer six months after he was baptized. A couple of years later, he was appointed an elder in the congregation and served for many years. He served as secretary, service overseer, and other privileges including giving talks at the assembly.

He loved biblical history, prophecy, and being in the ministry sharing truths from the Bible. Dwaine loved his brothers and sisters, and he was eager to comfort and uplift anyone. He cared for the fatherless, widows, and anyone who was disadvantaged. (Psalm 68:5). To help ones reason on the scriptures, one of the things that he was known for saying is “What is your Scripture?”

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of 50 years, Renee, his children: Derrick (Larcia), Dwaine Jr. (Charlene), Darren, and Dionne; grandchildren: Tiana, Brittany, Donaven, DeShaun, Danielle, and D’Asia; great grandchildren: Autumn, and Amir; siblings: Dennis, Derrick, Donavon, and Charlene; sister-in-law: Paula, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and a worldwide Christian brotherhood.
